Sitka Deer

Ich werde nie muede die Rehe und vorallem die Kitze zu beobachten. Unsere Sitka Blacktail Deer sind kleiner, wie in den anderen Staaten und haben eine sehr schoene dunkle, fast schwarze, Zeichnung im Gesicht.

Bei diesem Kitz sind die weissen Punkte/Flecken noch sichtbar. Die Ricke kuemmert sich ruehrend um das Kitz, alle paar Minuten wird es abgeschleckt und beschnuppert.In ein paar Wochen beginnt die Brunftzeit und damit ein haerteres Dasein fuer die Kitze, denn die Mutter/Ricke stoesst die Jungen weg um sich neu paaren zu koennen.

On the road....

....to Hawai'i.

We stay with Jeff and Corin in Kona on the Big Island. Their house has a dreamview. Jeff is an avid gardener and we are on the way....

....picking oranges, tangerines and limes which is a quiet different sort of gardening compared to what we are used to in Alaska.

On the road....San Diego

We take our Alaskan ferry down from Petersburg to Bellingham, Washington, where enroute we are visited by hundreds, if not thousands, of porpoises (eine Delphinart).
We pick up our trailer in Palm Springs then proceed to the coast--to Oceanside (just north of San Diego) where we are greeted by another big storm--first a lot of rain and then a huge yacht beaches in front of our campsite. He couldn't find the entrance to the harbor in the night and was dashed apart on the rocks. Helicopters hover around us all night. But the sun eventually shines again so we polish the Bambi trailer for the APPL (National Park) trade show
Our Bambi Airstream trailer is part of our display, where we sell 1930 WPA park poster reproductions to the National Park Bookstores around the country.
Generously Paragon Press shares the booth with our trailer which needs more room than expected.
After a busy (and fun) day, Ranger Doug is relaxing at the piano and the groupies are already there!

Und weiter geht es mit den besuchten Laendern. Ich habe die diversen Flughaefen nicht gezaehlt. Kann man unschwer als einen Laenderbesuch bezeichnen, sich mit Pass- und Zollkontrollen herumzuaergern und in Flughafen-Restaurants sich die Wartezeit um die Ohren zu schlagen.

Ich sehe schon, Suedamerika und Afrika sind etwas vernachlaessigt. Auch in Europa muss noch vieles besucht und gesehen werden. 11% sind nicht sehr beeindruckend, da bekomme ich gleich mehr Fernweh.
